Meadow and Lark: Engagements

I’ll guide you through the entire process

Included in EVERY WEDDING PACKAGE!!

These are so important to me as a wedding photographer, as it helps us get to know each other before your big day, AND you can see if you like my photography style.

It's all about you two and every session is beautifully personal.
Take me to the trail where you walk your dog in the evenings. Your favorite sunset spot on your family farm. Set up a tent, garnish it with fairy lights and call it a good date if that's what you two love!

01. scheduling

If you plan to use your engagement photos for save-the-dates or wedding invitations, you should schedule the shoot at least 6–12 months before your wedding. This gives you enough time to receive the edited photos and create and print your invitations.

If this is just for social media, any time works before your date!

02. PICK A LOCATION

What vibes do you want? Romantic, urban, classic, earthy, fun?!

I love photographing at new locations that are unique to you as a couple. Some of these are camping trails, farm, roller rink, favorite coffee shop, or business. Or I can send you a list of some of my fav spots.

We can do multiple locations and feels for your session.

03. Time of day

My absolutely favorite time to capture engagement sessions is during sunset and golden hour. We will schedule about 1-2 hours before sunset for your session.

You get the best lighting plus a beautiful golden glow, and of course some beautiful sunset photos.

04. Outfits

Here’s a list of my favorite outfits that work really well for engagement photos:

Wear a long flowy dress!

Have a great casual outfit to change into (you could also add a hat for some extra fun)

Dress up to the 9s!

A white dress always looks great.

Jersey outfits are awesome choices.

Denim is another great option and adds a bit of a streetwear vibe to the occasion.

Neutral outfits look great for shoots in natural locations.

Add some extra flare to your outfits with sunglasses!

fun tip, match your wedding colors!

05. Hair and Makeup

Wearing your hair down in waves/natural curls is always beautiful to photograph.

Natural makeup looks great, add some eyelashes to pop!

BIG TIP!! schedule your trial for hair and makeup for engagement photos, that way they can see what it looks like in photographs!

06.extra tips

  • make sure all straps and what you don't want to be shown are covered
  • super short dresses are hard to pose and photograph
  • make sure your outfit is comfortable and you feel good in it.
  • please no clashing patterns
  • don't wear something you'd never wear again, wear something that fits your personality, plus something fun (like cowboy hat, or boots)
  • always bring extra outfits
  • make sure your clothes are steamed/ironed

Please keep in mind if these options don’t work for you, I’m always willing to help you figure out something that will. Just let me know!

I want you to feel comfortable, look like YOU, and feel good about your photos.
